One gets tired of being a weird magnet.

As if it wasn't enough to be greeted first thing in the morning by a comment on a journal entry from January from out of the ether.

As if I didn't get a lengthy voicemail on my business cell phone from a total stranger about something unrelated to the business that issued me said cell.

"Dear AARP,

I'm not 50 yet for another six months. Kindly get out of my mailbox and bother someone else.

Thank you."

Hey! I'm 54 and those goofballs have made my life a lot easier! Between the discounts and the info on prescriptions I don't spend nearly what I used to on that stuff! Yeah it's kind of weird to use my AARP membership for getting discounts on a hotel room, but with all the travel I do in my kingdom, every little bit helps. The discounts are so worth the membership! :)

I have never lied about my age and I won't start any time soon. I can't do a darn thing about being 50 when the time comes. But that time is not yet, so AARP can back off and stop trying to rush me.
