Look at them. Look at all those smiles. Look at how many of these people have been in strong, stable, committed relationships for years. Decades, even.  http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/object/gallery?o=0&f=/g/a/2008/06/09/samesexmarriage2.DTL&type=samesexmarriage

Seriously, if there was gonna be divine retribution, you'd think it would be showing on the USGS map of seismic activity.

I'm straight and I'm not threatened. If anything, I'm a wee bit envious, but only because it has not been my fate to find someone willing to put up with my crap for as long as we both shall live.

I think the state Supreme Court did the right thing.

Thank you.

I have to admit I don't see why people are so upset. They don't have to recognize my oaths to my partner. Committing to my partner doesn't effect them in any way. Heck, they don't even know me in most cases.

I mean WTF????

Amen! I actually got very teary eyed looking through the pictures. Just because I'm not interested in getting married doesn't mean I can't recognize how profoundly important it is for couples like these, who have been unable to have any official recognition or rights of their relationships.

I agree that this is a good step.

Oh but no, it's a "tragedy" when natural disasters strike any god-fearing-conservative-land, it's only "divine retribution" when they strike foul hotbeds of sin like New Orleans... :p~~~~~

I know the California Supreme Court did the right thing. Maybe one of these years the US Supreme Court will find the balls to do the same. The state has no business enforcing religious bigotry.

Yes, but this....gasp..California! Isn't California the original hotbed of sin?

Don't they make movies there that show women's bosoms?

Yay California. You know, my marriage isn't any different today than it was last week. How 'bout that.

And just think, it's the kind of stupid bigotry from families who refused hospital access to partners of sick gay family members that made this Supreme Court decision look sane by comaris--er, made the decision necessa--um, made the decision possible 8)
