This is what happens when you give a Japanese poem sequence to a Norman scribe and don't tell him it's a Japanese poem sequence:

Not that I'm complaining, mind you, Master Richard de Camville writes a damn pretty hand and, to his great credit, kept things elegantly simple. Thank you for making my words look so good, Your Excellency!

EDIT: This just in. Richard confirms that he was not informed the text style was Japanese. In fact, he says he was told "Jehanne" wrote it. Non nobis, Your Excellency. I say again, lovely work.

The project was part of a collection of poems created for presentation as gifts from Their Majesties Uther and Kara of the West to the Royalty of the Known World at Estrella. I didn't move quite fast enough to volunteer to write for the East (my old 'hood) or the Outlands (where I received the Best Hospitality Anywhere Ever). Aha! I thought, the current King and Queen of Aethelmearc are part of Clan Yama Kaminari. Thanks to Her Majesty's guardsman and poetic co-conspirator Date Saburou Yukiie for looking over a draft version and commenting, "Yep. He's dread, she's fierce. I've got the bruises to prove it."

As suspected, our lack of hot water was simply a blown out pilot light, quickly and painlessly corrected. I will NOT have to use a stock pot to "shower" tomorrow.

Because they are so exquisite, even in this bad-res form, I am posting links to a sequence from Akira Kurosawa's Dreams, in which a Hina Matsuri display comes to life. I'm gonna have to hunt this one down at the video store and see the rest of it.

Yes, it's twelve minutes out of your life, but I promise it is worth it!
