The green-work on the Tosenin kosode is done. I am fairly content with it at this point. Tomorrow after work I will go over everything and do any necessary touch ups on flowers and gold work. Tuesday I will press it to heat set the paint and then I can start sewing it together.

Na'arah got her kosode collar attachment started and I was happy to be able to send her home with her project in good enough shape that she can finish it by machine on her own. She picked a very pretty shade of blue and is planning an obi and perhaps a false collar in plum tones. Emma's got some "Jordan Almond" pastel fabrics in her stash, we were thinking the peach would be a nice choice if she decides to make a kosode as well.  Never made it to anyone's classes, but it was actually very relaxing working on my project out of doors and hanging out with Na'arah, Jared and the Emmer.

The trip down to Santa Cruz after the event sucked. There were three different breakdowns on the southbound side of 17, so it was slow going all the way to Scott's Valley. Then when I turned up Bay to go up to UCSC, I got trapped behind a 30 year old VW Vanagon that appeared to have a top speed of 10 MPH going up the hill.

Dad is tan and well, having just come back from Genoa (gave a paper there), London (did his annual stint at the British Library doing research) and Istanbul (where an art historian friend invited him to visit). He presented me with a large bag of swag - half of it was nice T-shirts my mom doesn't wear that she wanted to pass on to me, the rest were trinkets: a box of Turkish delight, a brocade pouch with a blue glass amulet against the Evil Eye - who doesn't need one of those? (Especially when one is the Big Meanie Head.)
There was also a Turkey carpet magnet for my refrigerator collection, and a rectangle of cobalt blue bubbly glass on a neck cord, which is a lot prettier than it sounds. ([personal profile] sasha_khan, I DID ask if he got to listen to any music locally - he says yes, but it was American style jazz. Go figure.)  Postcards were evidently sent, but so far only the Genoa one has turned up.  We had a very nice dinner at Ristorante Avanti: sea bass for dad, a tart apricot pork chop for me.  The chocolate pot de creme was To Die For. Fresh, FRESH cream and dark chocolate that was not too sweet. Well worth leaping off the diet wagon and going "Nananana, you stupid scale!" for.

I dropped Dad back off at the college because there was a lecture he wanted to attend - he is in town for the Dickens Universe conference, after all. 17 was a parking lot all the way back to Los Gatos with weekenders headed back north, so I didn't get home until after 9.
