Since some of you are actually going to BE at Estrella, I do hope you'll come visit us, though I confess, our little slice of Nihon officially qualifies as a faraway place.

http://www.estrellawar.org/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=iiYvh9WcXyk%3d&tabid=498&mid=1463 shows the site. Look for the mustard colored Atenveldt blocks first. Look for the number "33" in the southernmost  Atenveldt strip. That's roughly where we will be, on the north side of Harfleur Road. Our gate will be flying black banners with a gold (yellow) demi-roundel. (Hm, wonder if paint is dry on that first one....)

(C'mon, did you really think we were gonna fly the Hinomaru? We'd have to launch a sneak attack against Caid or something....)

New Year's Eve party is Thursday evening, 7:30-ish? Sake, tea, other refreshments depending on what's fresh at the market...

The good news - I found a yellow fabric paint that does not vanish when applied to cheap black cotton broadcloth. Tulip Soft Fabric Paint, matte Sunshine Yellow is nice and high-contrast, which hopefully means our banners will be visible and attractive. I thought about applique, I really did, but there are other things I could be sewing. And I'm trying to tell myself that our banner design doesn't look THAT much like the Day's Inn logo.

The downside - I've had to do two coats on each side of the first banner. I'd hoped to have both of 'em painted tonight, but that just hasn't happened.....

To do:
Inventory camp kitchen stuff and compare notes with Yagyu-dono on unnecessary duplication of supplies, things still needed, etc.

Inventory and triage camping gear living in truck. (If it would stop raining!)

Check fit of new ridgepole sleeve and turn old one into recycling.

Cut bamboo for banner pole cross-pieces. Cut doweling for bamboo "extensions." (Again, I'd prefer to do this in the alley once it stops raining. Will drag bamboo up to kitchen and do it inside if I have to.

Class notes!

Start packing books I want to take.

Re-glue rosette on hurdy gurdy. For some reason I just remembered that one of them came loose the last time I had it out....

Call Bruce's and get the truck serviced.

Japantown shopping run Saturday 2/9. Mystify proprietor of Soko Hardware by purchasing lots of big-ass Japanese hats. Sake, groceries.

Optional sewing - none of it's make-or-break at this point if it doesn't get done. I know I have enough clothing to get me through the war and some of this stuff can come out to be handwork for sitting around and chilling in camp:
Finish tattsuke-bakama?
Let out the pink kimono I won at the silent auction for $5 - it would make a good under-layer with my lavender dan gawari?
Run up an extra pair of tabi?
Finish brown gored tunic?
