Songs that remind me of my childhood.
May. 31st, 2008 06:31 pmSwiped from reynardine at the risk of seriously dating myself: the 10 Songs That Remind Me of My Childhood:
In no particular order and specifically pre-teen years:
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, "Der Vogelfanger Bin Ich Ja," from Die Zauberflote (the Magic Flute), Walter Berry as Papageno. (Holy Moly, they've remastered it and put it on CD!) The whole opera, not just highlights! May have to invest in that one.
Pete Seeger, "The Bells of Rhymney."
Harry Belafonte, "The Fox."
The Beatles, "Penny Lane,"
The Byrds "Turn Turn Turn."
Supremes, "Stop In The Name Of Love."
Jackson 5, "ABC."
George Harrison, "Apple Scruffs", All Things Must Pass. (Make that the whole album. My aunt Mimi played it quite a lot that summer.)
Monkees, "A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You."
The Archies, "Sugar Sugar."
Ten from the teen years:
Paul McCartney and Wings, "Band On The Run,"
Don MacLean, "American Pie,"
Derek and the Dominos, "Layla,"
Elton John, "Rocket Man,"
The Who, "Baba O'Riley,"
Boston, "More Than A Feeling,"
Eagles, "Hotel California,"
Meat Loaf, "Bat Out Of Hell,"
Ohio Players, "Fire,"
Blue Swede, "Hooked On A Feeling," (the Ooga Chaga version....)
