The local Quizno's, which I've been patronizing on at least a weekly basis for more than a year, served me a nasty surprise today.
Never mind the fact that they routinely show up at the office and dump promotional coupons for their subs on my desk and never ONCE offer a promo on any of their salads. Never mind that half the time I spend more of my lunch hour waiting in line than actually eating because of the weirdness of the behind-the-counter chain of command. We'll even forget the fact that a salad runs an average of $1 more than a 6" sub.

They've discontinued their "craveable salads."

I'd made a habit of their Roman Chicken salad. Mixed greens, chicken, melted Italian cheeses and peppery Caesar dressing, with easily avoided cherry tomatoes.

The Flatbread Chicken Caesar isn't even a good Caesar salad. Caesar salad is romaine lettuce, parmesan cheese, croutons , and dressing. Romaine should be green, not yellow. Croutons and flatbread are not even close to the same thing.

Besides, if I wanted to eat bread I'd order a #&^@%$ sub.

Yea, verily, and there was much suck. And lo, the minimum wage cholo slave did lean upon the counter saying, "We don' got that no more." And lo, I was heartily offended and smote him with my copy of "Who Murdered Chaucer"* and ordered the Jawbone of an Ass on rye.

(*Which would hurt even in paperback.)

Heheh - force him to read it, and I'm sure his brain would explode! That is not a lightweight book (in any sense).

Heh - which is why it's been sitting in the bathroom for a re-read, waiting for an evening's bath that isn't a hurried affair after 10 pm. Heh, like THAT'S going to happen!

I just finished it this afternoon. Excellent read! On to Salman Rushdie's "The Satanic Verses..."
