Pleasing things:

Cloth adhesive tape worked like a charm and I did not aggravate the spot where last week's taiko blister continues to heal.

Despite not having played it since June (and that only twice) I made it through "Jishin" last night - including a mangled improv solo on the o-daiko. (Distressing thing:  I don't know what I'm going to do with myself between November 19 and January 6th, which is when the second winter session starts!)

I have tickets for two taiko concerts in the next two months. (Crap! I forgot to mail[livejournal.com profile] didjiman 's check - I SWEAR it will go in the mail tomorrow!)

I expect to have house guests from out of state for the second one, namely[livejournal.com profile] purplepenguin and his lovely lady.

I have zero commitments to be at an SCA event until Estrella War. I do not have to make something for Twelfth Night. I do not have to teach a Christmas Carol class that nobody will attend. I do not have to attend occasions of sin feast events that sabotage my eating habits.  I can go to what I want - or not. Down-time projects to be contemplated include more shibori experiments, updates to my website, designing and building some Japanese camp lanterns with the fiberglass "paper" I got at Tap Plastics last week and the annual triage of my camping gear.

Should you find that you want a low impact, friendly event between now and then, I recommend Fettburg's Yule. It is always a good time and very unpretentious. It is often a good reminder for me of why I do this when I'm getting disgusted.
