Because three sale-priced long sleeved cotton tops at Eddie Bauer were necessary to my getting through work at winter without looking like a bag lady and because I could not rationalize throwing money at some of my favorite talented people this past weekend instead, The Curmudgeon brings you......

Beautiful things:

The Memento Mori paternoster I mentioned in a previous post, can be admired here
http://www.the-treasury.biz/SCA.htm. The rosewood paternoster sucketh not either, having a marvelous tactile quality. The artisan is Mistress Eirny Thorvaldsdottir, late of the West, currently of Atenveldt, and yes, she will be at Estrella War.

It's a ring! It's a toy! It's a scientific instrument! Our very own [livejournal.com profile] acanthusleaf  now has nifty armillary sphere rings. http://www.medievaljeweler.com/rings.html Anybody on my f-list who is planning on doing the Steampunk Con thing in San Jose Halloween weekend should check them out. Her medieval reproductions and SCA award regalia are top notch too.

If Cok Guzel (which, they tell me, is Turkish for Beautiful Things) had a website, I'd put 'em up. I freely admit scanty knowledge on their niche, but they had damn nice jewelry, tesbih (Islamic prayer beads) and fabrics for Near Eastern applications.

I have a weakness for pottery. I own more pottery than I can possibly drink from or eat off of. Raku Raku Tei is Japanese, but she makes awesome medieval European reproductions. Be sure to go ogle her commissions page. I plan on adding something from RRT to my collection as soon as I can.

She does. I bought something from her at Crown. It fell out of my basket, but I was glad to have it even if only for a few hours.

Oooh, it all looks so cool. And yes, those rosaries are lovely! I also have a weakness for pottery. Nice stuff!

I had to re-read your post more than twice to figure out whether you said you actually bought Morgan's armillary sphere ring or not... but yes, it's WAY cool!!!

And as I mentioned in my post, I definitely did my best to stimulate the economy at GWW: buying a pelican pin from Morgan, a large side(?) of vanity-yellow leather, a glazed yellow mortar and pestle from Two Hearts Entwined Potter, and a "feather in your turban" pin from Cok Guzel (Mistress Cristobal) as a gift for a friend. *squee*
