Yeah, you over there. Playing with the pencils and having ideas you actually think are funny.

Maybe you weren't here last year. Read it, please.

I wasn't joking then. I'm not joking now.

You want to honor someone when he's gone, do it in a way that is true to who the person truly is.

If you bothered to get to know me in life, you would know how to do that.  You'd know what songs I like because you actually paid attention while I was here. You would know better than to use me as an exercise of Your Bard-icky Chops to churn out an Ode To Gurdymonkey.*  You would know what should be in your glass** when you raise it in my name.

I shouldn't have to leave instructions. No one should.

"Here's to gurdymonkey, she was a cast iron pain in the ass!"

You have to admit it has a certain charm.

*I pray that the perpetrators of a four part polyphonic "Potato Skins" paean have long since forgotten it. I don't THINK any of them read my LJ....

**"Mango Margarita" is not a phrase uttered in the halls of heroes.....

I hope I am on the group W bench only because my name was on an envelope found underneath a half-ton of garbage...

I apologize if I offered the wrong tone or response. In all seriousness, if anything happened to you and I thought we needed to raise a glass or song in your memory, I'd ask those closer to you as to what would be approporaite. If I thought we should do something cool for you at any point now, like something for 12th Night or a special occasion, or I just felt like it 'cause I think you're cool, I'd run it by someone else first.

A friend of mine died when we were fifteen - and they played the Circle Game song at her funeral - the one that gets the kid to twenty and talks about further dreams - the wrongness of it still upsets me.

I want to trade some more stories sometime - perhaps in the quiet moments of an event - if you wish to share them.

I know what will be in my glass. Pink fizzy sake, because YOU cared enough to find one for me that I would like.

I only really do poetry bardic, so it would have to be a waka which you taught me to do, and a wine poem, because we have compared the two types of poems.

Whether or not I "know" you, I do know what we have shared together, learned together. That's the valid experience for my memories, not the ones other people had with you.

We'll sing The Moose Song just to get you to come back and haunt us.

You're not too tall to kick in the shins, big guy. No - wait. It's not punitive if you enjoy it. Never mind.

I will toast a silent glass of sake to your memory, with a smirk and a slightly disapproving stare. After all, what can a german girl know of the ritual of sake?

I hope to see you soon.

You're fairly civilized for a Southern Barbarian, your Excellency.

More Jinyu? Or would you prefer the Hana Awaka?

Forgive my Barbarism...the pink stuff? It tasted like happiness! :)

I am stealing that description the next time I host a tasting. I think I need to introduce you to the Moonstone Asian Pear sake at some point.

(Note to self. Keep Hana Awaka on hand. It's inexpensive enough and folks REALLY seem to like it....)

"mango margarita is not a phrase uttered in the hall of heroes"

May I use this and quote you on it? It's too funny not to share with my local bardic group. Please?

Oh dear lord, you want to share it with BARDS?

I am against the drinking of girly cocktails at SCA events when it involves a gasoline powered generator to run the blender - and that's all the backstory you get.

Unless the Queen requests it at her Pennsic Tea. And there are extension cords available.

*sigh*

Hi. Sorry for the abrupt question, but the "Methinks I need a stiff drink" icon...where did the picture of a woman holding a glass with both hands come from?

Someone I know keeps referring to it as the Zeferelli's "Romeo and Juliet", so it would be an image of Olivia Hussey.

As for actual facts, I'm afraid I have none to offer.

I started to comment, but everything I say is coming out morbid, so I'm going to stop now. I'll just leave it at your memorial website will be taken care of, and I'll be the one with the whiskey.

"Here's to GurdyMonkey. She and Gaius deserved each other."

And you make take that whichever way strikes you at any given moment. :P I love you both and you were both born with an overdeveloped sense of Pain In The Rear.

And not even for you am I drinking scotch, Just so we're clear. Sake is one thing. Scotch is Right Out. But you know that the Crazy Stuffed Monkey Lady All "To the West" Bardic Challenge is on the list with asking you to wear the pink Kaylee dress of Stuff Elsa Would Never Ever Do But Cannot Help Thinking Up.

What I want at my funeral is no hypocrites. Seriously. If someone who was a total ass to me in life shows up, you get to ask them to leave. Feel free to tell people to go to Hell on SCA West too.

Amen to that! Pro-Am mourners need not apply. Go attention-whore over someone else's corpse, thank you very much.

G and T is a perfectly acceptable thing to drink when the vodka is gone. :) My personal drink is the vodka gimlet.

Hmm...
