Taiko rocked the house last night. I played hard - my shoulders and biceps are feeling it today.

Making good progress on the mokume-shibori by putting a few hours a night in on it in front of the TV (I'm taking a break for a few minutes). I hope to have it in wearable condition by war - or at least at a point where I can finish it in camp (hems, seam finishing, that kind of thing).

Been running through a mental lesson plan on my walks for Estrella. It's all going to depend on who shows up, how many show up, whether they have any sense of rhythm, how fast they pick things up, what our stamina levels are (I know I can play pretty hard for most of an hour, but that's not under a desert sun) and so forth. Is it presumptuous for me to be teaching taiko? Not just yes, but hell yes. On the other hand, I intend to be upfront with my students about my experience level, my motives (to get taiko out there because it's fun, what a concept!) and maybe get a discussion going on what period drumming styles might have been like.

Sad news: the gentleman who came out to Estrella last year all the way from Newfoundland emailed me earlier today to tell me he's not going to be able to make it due to life.

Terrifying thought: The Great Hero of China and That Damned Turk getting up to no good together. (My lawn! My beautiful lawn!)

Japanese and their ownership issues. "Your Lawn". I suppose I could make it my burnt offering. =)

One of my highlights is getting to see you at Estrella, looking forward to the good times. Ohh and now meeting the Turk with the shweet stash.

Hey, as long as you don't try to serve our guests that funky cooking wine.

See you soon!
