Pre-war grocery run has been completed. Ingredients for Auntie Saionji's teriyaki onigiri and "Japanese chicken noodle soup" have been acquired. Did you know that you can fit a box of Wheat Thins, two pounds of soba noodles, four packets of Knorr Chicken and Shiitake Mushroom* soup mix, eight packets of Quaker instant oatmeal (removed from their box and transferred to a zip lock), tea bags (zip lock), and a small jar of peanut butter into a stock pot and still have room for a couple of small to medium sized kitchen knives, some chopsticks and a spoon?  I figure if I have to pack along my soup pot, I may as well put stuff IN it. This means I can take the small cooler, with block ice, frozen chicken and chopped veggies in that, because the bigger cooler began to leak badly after October Crown and has since been dumpsterized.

*I've only ever seen this stuff in Asian markets and last week 99 Ranch Market didn't have it, which makes me wonder if Knorr has discontinued it. These may be my last four packets.... So how does one make Japanese CNS? Four packets of soup mix (which may have to be replaced with stock or boullion if Knorr has had a case of Teh Stoopid), water as per packets. Slices of fresh daikon, green onion and shiitake mushrooms, chunks of white meat chicken. Simmer until you're sure the chicken is cooked through.  Bring soup temperature up and dump in two packages of soba noodles. Stir. Once noodles are cooked, eat. Not sure if it was the soup mix or the soba, but it thickens up quite nicely and is a very hearty dish.

'Tite Blanche has been oil changed and given the appropriate benediction by Tony at Bruce's Tire. (Yes, James, I know, go sprinkle sake on the hood too....)

Laundry got done last night.

Skunk stripe gets dyed tomorrow. God willin' and my fingers don't give out, so will the mokume-shibori kosode.

Pack garb trunk.
Pack sugoroku box with party supplies.
Pack camp basket.
Print documentation for artisans' display on the off chance someone might actually want to look at it. Print business cards. I've decided I'm not going to bother with handouts for my class.

Load up Monday evening after work. Leave work Tuesday 4 PM and drive until eyes burn like coals in head....
