I am currently racking my brains (after applying for scholarship after scholarship, and sending tons of documentation to Financial Aid offices) to figure out how the hell we can send our eldest to a UC this fall (the nice private East Coast school she got into, despite their very generous aid package, is still simply beyond our means to pay for, and I want to NOT saddle her with $80,000-$100,000 in debt when she leaves college. Hopefully, she will have loans of no more than $20,000. :/ ---- And that's just daughter #1!!
We were lucky. The grandparents had set up an education fund for our daughter about the time she was born and between that and her living at home [we live about 5 miles from UC Riverside] and working part-time, she was able to graduate with minimal debt. Our son was actually a bit more expensive. He is attending a private technical school and will come out qualified as an automotive mechanic within a few weeks. Getting a job, on the other hand...
Waitaminit - if I am making the correct mental link, you MET my eldest last weekend, didn't you? ;) She likes your cats ^^ and thanks again for your hospitality! :
