An day in San Francisco, part two

gurdymonkeyUnencumbered by friends or family I dared not lose on a crowded city street, and somewhat inspired by photo uploads by friends visiting town and making smart cracks about being ON MY LAWN (you know who you are!) I walked north from SFMOMA to Chinatown, thinking I'd try to get some pictures of the amazing architecture.

It's well worth turning off the tourist-shop row that is Grant Avenue to wander up Waverly Place, with its colorful balconies and facades!
There was also a wee bit of shopping. I picked up some very cute patterned red tabi at Asian Ideas, as well as another one of the silky dragon caftan thingies (apple green with a blue dragon) since I practically live in the magenta one. This one is clearly printed and not hand painted, but it was also less spendy. I was browsing in a shop when I heard drums and cymbals so I rushed outside and found myself face to face with these guys!
They clashed and pranced up Grant Avenue to the crosswalk, halted, looked both ways, then crossed when the light changed.
