I'm up. I'm showered. The first coat of black paint has been applied to the sugoroku box in places not already painted, brushes are soaking in soapy water in a place they won't get knocked down and it's only 10:20 AM. I pulled the handles off, intending to paint them black with Rustoleum based on the flash photo shot last night, but honestly? Black would be more correct, however, the russet finish is growing on me. I have time to decide, I suppose.

It's time to get out of the garret, dammit. Peet's, I think. Granted, I'm now jonesing for a waffle, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] takadai_no_tora 's post this morning, but I also don't want to deal with crowds anywhere that might be serving something brunchlike right now.....

Lush report: I have given up entirely on the shampoo and am trying to get my hair back in balance with the old standby Suave products which have no cachet whatsoever, but do the job. I attempted to try the shower jelly, which smelled great, and promptly leaped off my sponge onto the floor and down the drain. More trouble than it's worth, thank goodness it was a free sample. Clearly I am not hip or cool or AWAKE enough when I step into the shower in the morning to try to wash myself with freaking Jell-O.  I do like the Olive Branch shower gel and solid perfume, the Enchanted Eye Creme is nice, and I will definitely go back for the Sympathy For The Skin hand cream. I also tried the free "emotibomb" this weekend. Smelled nice, dissolved down the drain by the time I was done showering. OK, fine, did what it's supposed to do and it was another freebie, but not something I'd be likely to buy again.

EDIT: Went up to the big CVS that used to be Longs on Pleasant Valley Ave in Oakland because they have a garden center. I passed on their garden stakes but found some good S-hooks for hanging lanterns. (I may do better at OSH for poundable garden stakes.)  Decided since it was early and I had a shot at a decently close parking space to go over to Emeryville and pick up the Lush hand lotion. That way I can refill the sample size jar to take with me to Estrella.

I ended up with the same salesgirl from the night I went with [livejournal.com profile] layla_lilah , who informed me I can bring back the shampoo and trade it for something else if I do it within so many days (I've forgotten!). Wish I'd known that before I left the house today. She also demonstrated how the cool kids use the shower jell-o. Like putting it on the sponge BEFORE I get in the shower. I did assure her that I was pleased with the other items I got on my last visit and I purchased a big jar of the Sympathy For The Skin, which should last me some time.

Just in time too. I've spent much of this weekend scrubbing black Rustoleum high gloss off my hands. The garret reeks of it and I've got the skylight and window open until it gets too cold. I went through most of the can for this project too. I just have to mark out the game board on the lid at this point.

Bottom rings are glued and clamped for four 4" diameter kaga chochin. I'll pick up some fiberglass shoji "paper" at Tap Plastics on my way home from work tomorrow and get started on those.  While I'm not thankful that bastard broke into my truck, knowing how to do it better the next time has worked well with the sugoroku box and should serve me in knocking out some more lanterns.
