My sister produced a pair of low rise jeans with a blown zipper and asked if they could be salvaged. I cannot find a 4" metal toothed jeans zipper anywhere for love or money. Obviously jeans manufacturers have the things or they wouldn't be making these pants. Anybody know where I can find or order one?

Easier to take a 6" and shorten it.

yeah, what [livejournal.com profile] ladycelia said.

Either very carefully work the staple out and move it up 2", or just use carpet thread or buttonhole twist and bar tack it 2" above the staple. Then you can trim the excess off.

What kproche said.

Otherwise, do what I tell the husband when he blows zippers out.

Say, "You know it's not worth my time to pick out old zipper all carefully and putting in a new zipper into old pants takes more time than it does for you to go out buy a new pair. Why don't you take these to a tailor? or throw them out and get some new ones?"
