Since [livejournal.com profile] danabren  reminded me of the peach orchard sequence in Kurosawa's Dreams the other day, I bought some peaches for the Japanese picnic, as well as a hami melon. It's supposed to be warm Saturday, fresh fruit will be nice to have.

Managed to get the truck packed such that it will hold the drums and the Gaius Auklandus Memorial Widdul Wed Wagon -- wagon was going to be retired, then the new folding wagon I bought before GWW was one of the things stolen from the truck in January. The inside of the wagon is a rusty mess, but a dumpster dive at work should yield some corrugated cardboard to put in the bottom to reduce mess.   All that has to go down tomorrow is the cooler, the miscellany tote (handouts, etc) and my garb.

First batch of onigiri is done: teryaki chicken shredded directly into the rice. Using the molds feels like cheating, but it's a bit faster. Rice for second batch should be done soaking by the time I write this. I'll do these plain and they can be toasted for lunch. I may use the Soy Vey Wasabiyaki on some of them and then do the rest with miso or something.

I have mixed feelings about the site. It's easy to get to, there are good Asian markets en route, the site is really pretty. The big minus is not being able to drive onto the field and unload, which is why I had to play truck Tetris with that damn wagon. Last year, I figured I'd be all courteous'n'shit and not take up space in the lower parking lot that someone else might need and instead hauled multiple, precariously loaded wagon-fuls uphill to the upper parking lot. I will not be that insane again.

Right after this entry of yours, my friends list included this link from a friend in Atenveldt: http://www.flickr.com/photos/24443965@N08/

I couldn't help but think of sharing it with you.

That link has been making the rounds today. Someone else posted it to her journal. Great stuff!
