If you do your sketch on engineering graph paper and run it through a laminating machine, it makes a damn fine stencil....

Random disturbing thought. Anybody else feel that "viking" and "luau" have no business being in the same sentence together, much less the same camp? I am SO going to find somewhere else to be that night. Their Majesties may do as they please, of course, but (a) it's not the sort of scene I joined the SCA for and (b) it sounds exactly like the sort of loud, crowded (why yes, I AM slightly agoraphobic), reduces-me-to-nodding-stupidly-and-lip-reading gathering that I have never much enjoyed.  Maybe I can hide out with some friendly neighborhood Nihonjin or go to a bardic or something.

I think agoraphobia is the fear of wide open spaces, and claustrophobia is the fear of small spaces/crowding.

And then there's always misanthropy (what hubby and I are *grin*)

Agoraphobia can also be fear of crowds. I don't have a problem with small spaces. I have a problem with invasion of my personal space by large groups of people. While I no longer opt to walk two miles instead of getting on a standing room only bus, I still hate 'em.

Unless they have decide to to it again, the luau was at the War last weekend. And while I would have cooked the pig for them if I would have been at war, I agree that a luau is not really appropriate. But maybe we are just too demanding? After all, why should historical fact in the way of a good party? LOL
