I gave it a bite of this. (The excerpt is very "children's book,")

I fed it two randomly selected waka. You guessed it, James Joyce.
And some of Jehanne's iambic pentameter couplets. William Shakespeare, unsurprisingly.
The kicker? I've never read any Joyce. He never came up in any of the literature courses I happened to take.

Date: 2010-07-14 05:28 am (UTC)As for Joyce, start off with something short, like The Dead. The last paragraph is pure poetry.
I prefer his short stories to his novels, which for me were pure torture as I tried to hack my way through them.
