Interesting article on why poetry is not doing well in e-book formats
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2010/07/19/BUN21EFS7H.DTL

Billy Collins was the Poet Laureate of the United States  from 2001 - 2003, and he's one of my father's colleagues at CUNY. He also writes some incredible poetry.

I understand that e-books can read pdf files, too. Is that correct? When they do do they treat them like a pdf, with all line breaks happening where they were originally, or do they convert them fully to the e-book format? If the former the poetry problem is solved--simply make it a pdf, and if the reader needs a large font size they can slide the window back and forth across the page to see the words at the far end of a line...

A scholar sends out
chilling verse, down to the soul,
hitting close to home.
Do I thank the messenger,
or cringe in my disquiet?

My father really likes Billy Collins and his poetry - I do as well.
