minstrlmummr 's reminder of some of the reasons I should feel no guilt whatsoever about Jehanne's retirement. Acoustic black holes, audiences who just want to eat their dinner and chat with friends they have not seen and would rather gnaw off a limb than have to Pay Heed To Another #*$^!% Bard in the latest round of Hostage Dinner Theatre, having to follow The Moose Song, the hurryupandwaiting game where you finally are told it's your turn to go on and people are scraping dishes and packing feast baskets around you. No, thank you.
I sewed last night - for ME, in front of the TV with what was not the worst Musketeer movie but not exactly something I had to stab myself in the thumb to pay attention to either. (The best are still the Richard Lester Musketeer films from the early 1970s!) Saionji's brown striped kosode keeps tearing under the arms in a way that tells me the fabric-of-dubious-fiber-content was never meant to be used for what I used it for, sadly. I found a plaid with a large repeat in linen that is reminiscent of some of the garments in one of my favorite 16th c. screens. Throw a solid kosode over or under and it's girl clothes, pair it with hakama (and maybe a kataginu) and it's boy clothes. Be nice to have something new and field friendly for GWW.
Today I have an eye exam in the middle of the damn day, oh, yippee, oh, joy - though I'm waiting for the phone to ring and The Nitwit to tell me they have to change it again. I'm going to to run some laundry.
