Having a sour grapes moment.

A Certain Person posted an announcement of a kimono sale in Japantown the weekend of Great Western War, so I went looking and found an actual event announcement with a little more information - like the address and the times the sale would be on.

Ouch. I can't pay $600 for a bolt of kimono silk. I don't even think I know anybody right now who could.

So here I sit, taking a break from working on an outfit that's going to make me look like a picnic table, even if it's all hand done and in fact requires more hand work than modern kimono because it's cut from modern Western fabric and will have more raw edges than a garment sewn from a kimono bolt. Even if I had to dye the jacquard myself because it was such an eye watering shade of pink. Even if it will be in a period-appropriate style I will have more opportunities to wear than any of my modern vintage wafuku.


I need a sugar daddy.....


And  I still have smurf fingernails.
