Well, MY morning started with a couple of emails from friends who had gotten suspicious emails from my address indicating that my account had probably been compromised. I couldn't do anything about it until I got home because Yahoo wouldn't let me change the password unless I went to the merged account with my internet provider and the documentation chain of my email accounts through AT&T-which-used-to-be-sbcglobal was incomplete. Got on the phone with a live rep so I could give him my account information and figure out what the correct name on the old email address that I never, ever, use was, and got passwords reset.  So if you got something peculiar from me via email, well, more peculiar than the norm, delete without reading.

Two of our databases at work were migrated to a different drive and I can get one to work normally, but couldn't enter job completion dates in the other. Nancy can't get either one to work at all and the person we need to fix it is away for the weekend so she had to keep interrupting me during my weekly report run to look stuff up. Not her fault, but it was irritating.   There have been a couple of big meetings going on in the conference room upstairs from us, which bode well for some upcoming projects in 2011. Right now, we're down to skeleton crews on the few projects that are active, but I processed a couple new hires this week and saw a couple dispatches come in for a couple more starting Monday.

And hallelujah, I threw away the last two cupcakes from the last damn United Way bake sale. The smell of canned frosting is revolting. I can't believe people eat that stuff. I particularly can't believe people eat that stuff right out of the can. And what is up with the red velvet cake craze?

So I pull into a parking spot next to the house and see that Steve is standing on the lawn with a little black puppy! He's been in the house for nearly two years now, is a good tenant, and managed to get our landlord to agree to let him have a dog. He's currently working a regular schedule over at Coastguard Island, has an office to himself and can take Denali with him to work. 10 week old black lab/boxer mix. He may have gotten into something he shouldn't, because Steve said he'd been throwing up and not his normal, lively self and they were on the way to the vet. Sick or not, he wagged his entire back end and licked my hand when I petted him. Seems very sweet.

Denali, very pretty name!

Sorry to hear about the compromised email account; it's been happening to a few people I know lately. Glad you got it sorted out.

Yeah, canned frosting... yuck! Real frosting, usually only slightly less yucky, even if made with cane sugar and butter or cream, 'cuz it's usually too sweet. Clearly i am not a big cake fan (i prefer *tart* fruit pie).

Real red velvet cake is... interesting. But the current craze calls for a "hint" of cocoa in the cake and mass quantities of red dye. NARSTY! I was given a bite of one once, tasted like drinking food coloring out of the bottle, not an experience i want to repeat.

I think people are getting so used to unreal ingredients (like Cool Whip) and artificial flavors (to the point of actually *preferring* artificial butter flavor over real butter) that they like and seek out the taste of pure industrial chemicals over the flavors of real food.

So many lower end to moderately priced restaurants use artificial butter flavored oil to cook with that people are used to it, even think it's normal... i have sent food back because of it, and was unable to get vegetables uncontaminated with artificial butter flavor to replace what went back.

Labs are usually sweeties, and reasonable sensible... they are, after all, frequently seeing eye and other kinds of helper dogs. Best wishes to your neighbor human and your neighbor dog.
