Taking a break from one kind of repetetive stress for another. I need to put in more time on Her Highness' jinbaori as I somehow never managed to during Estrella.

New ridge pole sleeve (and a spare) have been ordered. Truck was unpacked on Monday. Despite the hasty departure from site, things were not all that disorganized. Because I tend to sweep my camp periodically to put things away, the kitchen and party box were already mostly packed when the winds started. Sure, the clothes all got crammed into things hastily instead of neatly folded, but most of it was going to get laundered anyway once I got home. I even remembered that the button that came off my cargo pants was in the front pocket of my purse, so I can put it back on again.

I found work by Augustine Mowa, the Hopi silversmith that made my earrings. In fact, I found the same design. I paid somewhat more at the shop in Sedona, but didn't do too badly all things considered. More Hopi silver overlay pieces by Mr. Mowa and other artists can be admired or purchased here. (When I think about it, internet shopping didn't exist the last time I bought a piece of Hopi silver.)

Isn't it? Hopi overlay is so distinctive. I fell in love with it on my first trip to Arizona nearly - holy crap, it WAS nearly 30 years ago. I bought a pair of earrings and lost one at some point, which was awful. So happy to have found the ones I bought.

My stepmom was fond of the Hopi cultural center, and always bought a few pieces there on every trip.

The food's pretty good there, and the motel's pretty nice. There's also a nice shop down the road in Tsakurshovi that has some nice overlay.
