The tiny empress on the center of the top step and all the dolls on the step beneath were "souvenirs" acquired by a great aunt who served as an army nurse during the Korean War. My mother took good care of them, but their condition makes me think they were flea market or second-hand finds.

The large doll was rescued from a bunch of dolls on a sale table at Genji Antiques one rainy Cherry Blossom Festival a few years ago. She is missing her headdress and there's a big worn hole in her nagabakama, but I think she was an Empress.

The Heian hime (also on the top step) was made for me as a gift by Abe no Akirakeiko-hime.

At bottom, left to right are Akio, Hikaru and Django. Akio and Hikaru attend SCA events regularly. Django, a gift from [livejournal.com profile] karisu_sama  who decided he needed to be mine, sits on the landing next to my bonsai, ready to thwart ninja attacks through the skylight.

One cannot have too many cheerful monkeys that can thwart ninja attacks.

Do you think you could replicate/replace the missing headdress?
