OK, I've been living in this kingdom since, what, 2002? I've been driving to the sheep ranch in Cloverdale via 101 North since 2003 and the stretch through Santa Rosa has been in a perpetual state of incomplete construction as far back as I can remember. Still managed to make it to the event site while it was still light out, wandered around looking for people who weren't there, then found a place to pitch my tent that turned out to be equally inconvenient to all porta-johns, not to mention the spot where Their Highnesses of Cynagua ended up pitching their camp. It was also on a slight slope which hadn't looked bad at the time I set up. However, I and my sleeping bag rolled/slid off the shikibuton a couple times before I found an optimum angle to settle the thing.
Located Brian and Muirenn, the only other two people who had reported in that they were attending Their Highnesses this weekend. Katherine turned up not long after. Rendezvoused with TH, and stood Last Court behind the thrones for two-plus hours. Got to see
broider_barones eleveted to the Laurel and Miles' knighting. Feet were killing me though. Sat in the cheap seats for Coronation. By this time, several other folks who were on TH court had arrived on site. I was feeling completely wiped out at this point, so I headed back to my tent and sacked out on the carpet with my feet up on a pillow for about an hour. This meant I missed Mark and Patricia's first court and didn't see the Miyakes get their court baronies, but I really, REALLY needed the down time.
Checked in with His Highness and was assured I was free to go visiting and enjoy myself, which I pretty much did. I had dinner with the Miyakes and the Toad Hall folks. Meat, meat and more meat (tri tip, pork, lamb, chicken), though my contribution of seared ahi in a ginger marinade went over with its usual popularity. Mistress Geraldine made Potage Crecy. She spiked it with a little garam masala instead of the traditional black pepper and it was sooooooo good. Ate more than I probably should have, but everything was delicious.
Swung past the bardic very, very briefly, but did get to hear
cryptocosm 's piece and a couple other things. Staggered off to bed and slept pretty well until the sheep started baaing around 6:30 AM.
Checked in with TH, was assured all was good. His Highness gave me a juggling lesson before court. Hand-eye coordination has never been my strong suit, but I can now throw one ball back and forth and catch it more often than I drop it. He's a good teacher, he assures me I can learn to do it if I want. I think I'd be more comfortable with a smaller, lighter set of balls to practice with - yeah, right, in my copious spare time. Still, it was more fun and less embarrassing than otherwise, so what the heck, right? Stood last court, which was short.
Gentle readers, you may recall that at Estrella War, Baron Vail from the Far West presented me with a huge crate of festive decorations for the celebration of Children's Day. Well, they went to Beltane and those that I could assemble and display got trotted out for the occasion. I felt like I was playing with a doll house as I set things up. I can't drag all of it out to every single event, but it was fun to have it out this weekend.

I also decided to hang up the Chinese eagle kite I found at the Grand Canyon.

Additionally, Brion saw me Sunday and handed off yet another box from Vail, which he'd brought to Prova Dura - which, of course, I hadn't gone to. I now have a miniature bow and arrow set to add to the Boy's Day set.

Bless the man, he's so generous.
