1. Mundane Name: Lisa

2. Mundane Job: Nursmaiding 500 union plumbers, pipefitters and sheet metal workers.

3. Persona name: Jehanne de Wodeford and Saionji no Hanae

4. How did you come up with your name?:
Go here, it's easier: http://wodefordhall.com/persona.htm

5. Where and when did your persona live?
Jehanne is from 13th century  Wiltshire,  Hanae  serves in the Imperial Court  of Heian-kyo (what is now Kyoto), likewise 13th century.

6. What is your Known World Location?
Province of the Mists, West Kingdom

7. What kingdom do you consider to be your home?
I am a citizen of the Known World. I have too many welcoming friends in too many corners of it to insult them by choosing one over any other.

8. How long have you played? Since 1995.

9. How did you get started?
Tried foil fencing for beginners as part of an adult school program. While God decided to Give Me A Sign that fencing was a dumb idea in my case (I injured the same knee twice), he also introduced me to Sir Tanaka Raiko, who invited me to my first event.

10. Why did you join?
When you ask Daddy for a story and get Beowulf, you're kind of pre-programmed for this. I loved the history and the literature of the Middle Ages long before  I knew the SCA existed.

11. Have you registered a name? Yes.

12. Have you registered a device? Yes

13. What awards have you been granted?
Does it matter?

14. How many events do you attend each year? It averages out to about 1 a month.

15. What is the best event you have ever been to? Hard to pick because there have been some really good ones. The Andalusian Wedding Feast was awesome.  Teahouse of the Winter Moon in the Outlands was a lot of fun and I got to meet some great people. The King's and Queen's Bardic Championships (East) in upstate NY where I made finals (and tanked due to loss of nerve and hatred for writing on demand). It was in an old church with awesomely good acoustics that made singing "The Agincourt Carol" a joy. I have never sounded so good.

16. What is the worst event you have ever been to? The one we dubbed Teahouse of the Damned. Good idea gone horribly, horribly wrong.

17. What event do you make it to every year?
I really try to attend Estrella - the SCA Japanese community is far flung and Estrella has been a wonderful place to get to know some of my long distance friends, especially since Pennsic is much farther away now that I live in the West.

18. What event do you refuse to go to?
Ducal Prize.

19. Who is your favorite person to hang at an event with?
It would not be politically expedient for me to answer that question. (See answer to #7 above.)

20. What activities do you participate in? Music, poetry, historical clothing.

21. What activity would you like to learn?
I would like to get better at the skills I already have, but I have to sleep some time.

22. Are you a marshal?
Not at this time. I was an archery marshal back east.

23. How many tents have you had destroyed at events?
None. Forgot the poles for my dome tent for my very first Pennsic.

24. Has your garb ever caught on fire?
No, but I melted an interesting groove in the sole of a boot I had propped up against the edge of the firepit.

25. Have you ever woke up in a strange person’s tent?
No.

26. Do you have a pavilion?
I have a tent. Calling a canvas wedge tent a pavilion is pretentious.

27. Are you a peer?
No.

28. Do you ever want to be a peer?
It would not be politically expedient for me to answer that question.

29. Is it a coincidence that peer rhymes with beer?
It rhymes with a lot of things. Big deal.

30. Are you a squire, apprentice or protegee?
No. I am a curmudgeon with anarchistic tendencies.

31. Who would you like to be squired, apprenticed or protegee'd to?
I always say. Why shackle oneself to one brain when there are so many good ones to pick? I always say

32. What is your war cry? "Iocundum nunquam cessat." (The fun never stops.)  Or "Otaku wa konde desu." (Bite me, fan boy.)

33. Have you ever been pulled off of the field for your safety?
No.

34. What is the funniest thing that has ever happened to you in armour?
Actually, it's just about the only thing that has ever happened to me in armor. I was admiring [profile] barone_antonio's sallet and asked what the view from inside was like. So cara Barone puts this massive bucket, strapped and padded for His Manly Melon onto my head. [profile] vsct_caius picks up a sword and says, "Hold very still." CLANG, rattle rattle rattle. "That's light. CLANNNNNNNNNNNG rattle rattle rattle rattle. "That's good. Wanna see excessive?" Er, no, thank you.

35. Have you read Corpora?
Yes.

36. Circlets, how do you feel?
Extremely useful for keeping one's veil on. And for making people stare in mid-sentence and cry, "You have MONKEYS on your head!"

37. What household(s) do you belong to?
None. It's that whole anarchistic curmudgeon with cacophonous instruments thing.

38. If you could change one thing about the SCA what would it be?
It would not be politically expedient for me to answer that question as it involves capital punishment for asshattery.

39. What is your favorite part of the SCA? The people who "get it." The ones who  do cool medieval stuff and raise the bar and make it more than a half-assed costume party with beer.

40. What is your SCA Goal for the next 7 years?
To remember that the world is bigger than the SCA. And maybe find a man who appreciates an anarchistic curmudgeon.

They all matter. And at the same time, they do not.
