Ha, that is hilarious! And yes, Martin is just that nice, and has been every time I've met him. Part of the reason I'm such a fan of his.
Oh, and we did get tickets for Worldcon next year, which will be in Chicago! (Only three hours from here--easy drive.) Can't make hotel reservations until January, though.
