Tanka challenge 11/15/11

I am the shime,
The racing pulse as thunder
Builds behind my back.
An earthquake roars through my ears
While sticks gallop in my hands.

I LOVE playing shime-daiko. They're not as thunderous as the bigger drums, but the lighter sticks just fit me so much better that I can get a lot more speed and snap in my playing. We were trying out a new intro to our "earthquake" piece with two shime starting up the rhythm, then the bigger drums joining in. Josh and Tony were right behind us on o-daiko and it almost blew me out of my shoes when they started to play.

Well, I need to make my own shime bachi because the ones Clint made are long for me. So that means I need to make a bag to hold multiple pairs of bachi.....
