Just posted in the past hour to the kingdom list. "Note that this is a dry site - alcohol must be purchased from the Hotel. If we
see any open bottles, we will ask you to remove them. Otherwise, the hotel can lose their liquor license, and may not allow us back."

Isn't it a good thing that the tasting room at Takara is closed this weekend so I couldn't make an expensive sake buy BEFORE I found this out???? The kinpaku is $35 and the Antique is $55 a bottle.

No corkage?

Whoever their hotel liaison is (whatever the SCA term is) should be drawn and quartered.

that simply means we'll buy a smaller bottle of Oni and share it privately behind the closed door of our room. CA hospitality law permits that.

Yeah, but it means one of THESE is right out. The hand truck in the elevator would be a dead giveaway.

I thought the Moon Viewing Party was in your hotel room. They can't tell you what not to drink in your own room. In the public areas, though, yeah. Bummer.

they're talking about the public rooms, aka feast hall and such. Private parties are private.

Hotel purchased booze only in the common areas is the major reason we did Heinrich's vigil in a suite rather than in one of the common rooms two years ago. Paying for an extra hotel room was cheaper then buying booze for the party guest. Of course two years ago, we weren't allowed to have non-hotel purchased food outside of the feast hall either so some things are looking up.

If folks have some level of discretion, I don't generally find that "discretely wet" alcohol restrictions a huge issue at most sites. It is the discretion that is the hard part (and gives the 12th Night Autocrats grey hairs).

I'm sure no one will be sniffing your flask (tea cup?) at your party.

Patience hop-grasser. It will all be over soon.

Remember, don't letting the wedding interfere with the marriage.
