Again with the waking up at 7 AM after a late night and not being able to roll over and sleep in. As I do not believe in astral projection and other sorts of hookey spookey, I just wish I could get my brain to stop taunting me with dreams best left undreamt.

My crap Home Depot fir having had a chance to lie flat in the alley for a week and kinda sorta pretend to dry, I started a load of laundry and then played with power tools for awhile. (No, I was a good neighbor, I did not fire up either the washer or the jig saw before 9 AM. I'm not that big of an asshole.) I now have two new ridgepole pieces to replace the ones that got warped in The Land Of Wind And Poo, plus an extra pair of 7' uprights.

Why an extra pair of poles for a wedge tent, you wonder?
Because at Coronet, it shall be transformed into The House Of Cheerful Monkeys, a rustic pavilion for sipping sake, admiring the evening sky (wrong time of the month for a full moon, sadly), and engaging in good conversation and perhaps a bit of poetry.

As some of you know, I had been contemplating a sake tasting upon the occasion of fall Coronet, in the spirit of harmony and educating the naysayers and perhaps getting them giggly on some of Nihon's finest bottled silliness. This is a photo of The Bushi From The Outlands'  Pennsic digs.  This sad little picture and the fact that his breakfast fixin's are still out and the armor is not  displayed imposingly upon its stand does not quite do it justice. At night with candles and torches lit, tea cups warm in our hands, the "veranda" was a fine place to spend a rainy evening trading stories and company.
Anyway, this is my inspiration and I hope to have photos of what results in a couple of weeks.

Had a late-ish lunch with [profile] vsct_caius who was in the neighborhood, sorta. He called while I was folding  clothes to tell me he got this great book on Japanese kites for $2! It turns out I already own it, but I can easily find someone who will appreciate it the extra copy. We went down to the New Zealander for pub pies and split a strawberry rhubarb thingy that was quite good.

Looking forward to seeing what the tanoshii saru no ie (楽しい猿の家)looks like once you're done. (Actually, there might be a better word that "ie" to describe house/home/tiki hut (like uchi--which uses the same kanji), but my Japanese isn't that advanced. Oh, to live near a decent college!)

I shouldn't have clicked on that restaurant link this early in the morning. That food all looked so delicious. Now I'm hungry and all I have waiting for me is a bowl of wheat flakes with soy milk. :-P
