Sorta for my own reference, but feel free to look:

These are from a site that makes costumes for gagaku performances.

Nice detail of collar construction and frog closure.  http://gagaku.suki2.com/product/img/shinkan/kariginu_moegi_gatyo.jpg

Hats! Er, I mean, eboshi.

Have another collar pic, for reference:

I probably could get you a higher-res version if you like.

And I might have some schematics of kariginu and suikan for you.

Thanks. If you have better, great, if not, I think I can work with the one from the gagaku people. I have Effingsensei's PDFs for the schematic bit - all rectangles except for that angled front panel bit (reminds me of the shapes I used for my mo).

I have to find the program that made it first.

I think Effingham is drawing from the same source for his PDFs as I'm offering to copy for you. If you want to see what the original schematics look like, you let me know.

Given that I cut this out and started assembling sleeves yesterday, the point may be moot.

oooh, I really like the frog closure at the neck. It's different than any one I've seen.

Is the collar stiffened or just padded, maybe by being folded layers? I love the detail on the frog.

Honestly not sure. I suspect that the presence of the cord underneath adds some of the body.

I wish I could remember where (probably Sengokudaimyo) but I remember something about the collar being built over a paper/card stabilizer.

I just took a spin through the descriptions over on Sengokudaimyo and couldn't find it. However, the paper technology certainly existed, so it's a viable possibility.

Would scans/photos from Ishou Jidai no Nuikata help at all, or do you have those already?

I already have schematics to work from that were taken from IJN, thank you.

(I want this book. I CANNOT rationalize paying for this book at this time, especially with the dollar so weak.....)

Our dollar is stronger now, but even with that and the buying power, I just don't have the funds to do so. I bought the book when I did have much more spending monies, but have yet to use it, sadly, aside from flipping through the pages. One day, though, I will.

Until then, and after that point, I shall continue tow atch your progress and be inspired by your works.

It's also no longer available at Amazon Japan, so you're safe (unless you know of another source?).
