OK, so I finally have a moment to log on and people are freaking out about layoffs at LJ and where to back up their precious journals.

The second round seems to indicate that freakage may have been premature. OK, fine, fair enough.

Pictures, project notes, and poetry  - you know, all the important stuff - are in files on my computer at home.  Everything else is just nattering about mostly nonsense and trivia and if it went poof into the ether tomorrow, I'd mind because I do enjoy this service, but it would not be the end of the world.

Not going to taiko class tonight. Now THAT would be a tragedy.

I am packed. (I need a medium sized suitcase. The big one is too big, the small one is too small. My stuff is in the big one and I have a feeling it's going to be one giant wrinkle when I unpack....)
Cell phone is charging.
Boarding passes are printed and stashed in my bag.
Reading materials have been selected: Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next: First Among Sequels and Patrick O'Brien's Post Captain (read it before, but I suspect I'll blow through the Fforde before I get where I'm going) for the outbound leg, David McCullough's Mornings on Horseback for the return trip.
I hope I have time to do a museum trip into DC: the National Gallery of Art has an exhibition on Pompeii.
I've also been informed that my nephews got a Wii for Christmas and are dying to play with me.
And now I am going to set my alarm for 0-dark-hundred and try to get some shut-eye.
