I think that nasty perfume gave me a headache. Dammit, I am
not blowing off my movie night. I don't get them all that often.

Sunset (aka break-fast) is at 6 PM. Guess I'd better have more water. Dinner is probably going to have to be something fast as I need to be at the theater by 7:15 to meet J.

Buttons for my nephew's "soldier coat" arrived in last night's mail. The relief on the front of the button is not as good as that found on originals, but the Maryland state seal still makes a nice motif. And they're suitably shiny and more yellow than the photo below.
Repro button: Extant button:

Nor does the repro have a 19th c. maker's mark on the back.
If anyone has the mildest interest, there's a great collection of Civil War buttons
here.Of course, NONE of my coworkers needed to throw out a set of plans all week. I was hoping for the paper for making a pattern. I guess I can work directly off the tee shirt if I have to....

Sing it! The Canadian women's hockey team were in full cry on "O Canada" along with most of the spectators and it was a delight to see. (Let them have their beer and cigars, too. They sure as hell earned it!)
Johnny Spillane, silver medalist in the Nordic Combined was clearly singing the "Star Spangled Banner," while teammate and gold medalist Bill Demong stood on the top step looking like he was having one of those "OMG!" moments, all solemn wide eyes.
Staying up to watch the women's figure skating final last night was well worth it. Every single one of the women in the final group had an "on" night and were a joy to watch. My favorite, 16 year old Mirai Nagasu's skate to music from Bizet's "Carmen," which got her an impressive 4th place finish.
