Mission San Juan Bautista is down near Hollister and it was founded in 1797. I got there after visiting hours, so the museum portion was closed, but there's a whole complex of historic buildings centered on the Mission. If you ever think you want to check it out, take 101 down to 156 east and it'll take you right into town. Hang a left onto the Alameda and look for signs for the Mission and Historic Park.
